Amit Kothekar

Founder

Amit, an engineer native to NYC, combines nearly a decade of systems experience with a lifetime of passion for space. After earning his Bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, he completed a Master's in Space Systems Engineering. He has built and delivered technically rigorous space systems across environments ranging from NASA programs to fast-moving startups. His work spans mission architecture, guidance and control, and systems engineering processes designed to produce reliable, execution-ready products. Early in his career, he guided a team selected to develop and present Artemis mission concepts directly to NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. He later contributed to major flight programs including NASA’s TEMPO mission and Intelsat-40 at Maxar.

At Xona, he led systems engineering for a lean, rapidly evolving venture, establishing disciplined yet lightweight processes that enabled the team to move quickly while still building toward resilient, high-reliability systems. Through that work, he has combined the rigor demanded by large government programs with the practicality required in startup environments.

He has worked across NASA programs, major commercial space companies, defense contractors, and startups—helping teams operate with clarity while establishing cross-disciplinary systems engineering practices. His expertise spans front-end systems engineering and first-principles thinking, translating complex mission concepts into clear, actionable strategies.
